Chain Saw Protective Apron Chaps
Tongmao? Chain Saw Protective Apron Chaps and Cut-retardant material is a high-tech fabric of polyester, kevlar, polyester and polypropylene fibers. The special structure of the fabric makes it easy for the saw chain to pull and to draw the fibers into the chain saw. Each fiber is built up of a lot of fine filaments to fill the moving parts of the chain saw .

It is very important how the layers of the fabric are designed and sewn to form a protective pad and how the protective pads are sewn into the pants, chaps or leggings. Incorrect sewing of the fabric may bind it too hard to the garment and make it difficult for the chain to pull the fibers.
If a running chain saw chain comes in contact with the Tongmao?jamming protective materials, the fibers and their filaments are pulled and drawn by the ehain into the chain saw and the fibers and their filaments will jam and clog the drive sprocket.
Tongmao? offer chain saw protection to the front(180o) of each leg, and 5cm to the interior part ofthe right leg and 5cm to the external part of the left leg. (All chainsaws are 'right-handed')Protection starts a max. 5cm from the bottom of the leg and ends at min. 20cm above theCrotch.Mainly intended to be used for forestry work by professional lumberjacks who havebeen thoroughly trained and work with both feet on the ground .
Chain Saw Protective Apron Chaps Special fabrics have been developed for chainsaw clothing, and this development is still very active. Conventional fabric is useless at protecting against a running chainsaw, being immediately cut through.
There is a real struggle between making a fabric proof against more violent impact, and making it light, flexible and comfortable enough for the user. Clothes which make the user too hot, or which prevent the user moving easily, are a safety problem in themselves. A worker suffering from heat exhaustion is not safe. Extra fabric layers can be added to clothing to improve cut resistance, but clothes which cannot be cut at all by a powerful saw are impractical, even with modern fibres. What is worse, saw and chain technology seems to be outstripping fabric technology. High power saws with aggressively cutting chains are almost impossible to protect against.
A classification scheme has been developed in the EU to rate trousers, and fabric in general, for protection against cutting.
The chain speed is specified in the manual for a chainsaw. Higher class trousers cost more and are heavier, so there is an advantage to choosing the trousers to match the saw.

ASTM (American Society of Testing & Materials) F1414 Test Method and ASTM Specification F1897 ¡°Leg Protection for Chain Saw Users¡±
Tongmao? chainsaw chaps meet the requirements of ASTM Standard for Leg Protection for Chain Saw Users (F-1897-2008). This standard requires that the chaps can stop a chain saw running at 2,750 feet/minute tested at both 45 degrees and 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the test sample, under controlled laboratory conditions. Compliance tests are performed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in accordance with ASTM F-1414, Measurement of Cut Resistance to Chain Saw Lower Body Protective Clothing. The performance requirements previously were 2500 feet per minute chain speed.
